Petals & Paint – A Floral & Mixed Media Workshop
Petals & Paint – A Floral & Mixed Media Workshop
After being such a big hit last year, Petals & Paint is back – and I’m so excited to be collaborating once again with local artist Rhiannon Collins for this special creative day here in Pontardawe, South Wales.
This workshop is all about slowing down, getting creative and spending time immersed in flowers and art.
Part One – Field to Vase (Bring Your Own Vase)
We’ll begin with a relaxed and practical flower arranging session. This is a bring your own vase workshop, designed to give you the confidence to arrange beautifully in whatever vessel you already have at home – just like my Field to Vase workshops.
I’ll start with a demonstration, talking you through:
Simple, sustainable mechanics
How to create natural, balanced shapes
Choosing and placing stems with intention
Making your arrangement look abundant and effortless
Then we’ll head out into the flower field together, where you’ll cut your own seasonal blooms, freshly grown here in Pontardawe. There is something so special about choosing flowers straight from the field and watching your arrangement come to life stem by stem.
Tea, Cake & A Creative Pause
We’ll take a break for tea and homemade cake – a chance to chat, reset and admire everyone’s beautiful work before we move into the second half of the workshop.
Part Two – Paint Your Petals
With your finished vase arrangement in front of you, Rhiannon Collins will guide you through creating your own mixed media painting inspired by the flowers you’ve just arranged.
Rhiannon will:
Talk through key techniques
Demonstrate her approach
Share tips on composition, colour and mark-making
Help you loosen up and build confidence in your drawing and painting
This isn’t about perfection – it’s about observation, expression and enjoying the process. Whether you’re a complete beginner or someone who hasn’t picked up a paintbrush in years, you’ll be gently supported every step of the way.
What You’ll Take Home
By the end of the day, you’ll leave with:
A gorgeous vase filled with your own hand-cut flowers
A finished mixed media painting
New floral arranging skills
New painting and drawing techniques
And a big boost of creative confidence
Petals & Paint is a joyful, hands-on workshop designed to reconnect you with nature, creativity and your own ability to make something beautiful.
Spaces are limited to ten
Cancellation Policy
Our workshops are non-refundable, but if you can’t make it, you’re welcome to send someone in your place. We kindly ask that you don’t come to the farm if you’re feeling unwell. If illness means you need to cancel, we’ll happily transfer your booking to the next workshop with available spaces or we will arrange to deliver a bouquet or wreath to you in lieu.
Please note, the farm is a working environment with uneven ground, so we recommend wearing sturdy footwear like trainers, boots, or wellies if it’s looking rainy.
Workshops go ahead in most weather, but we may need to postpone or cancel in extreme conditions like snow or torrential rain. Safety and comfort always come first!
